Hello good people. We had a grand old time in San Francisco at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival Sept 30 - Oct 2. Wendy Bird gathered her Band of Miscreants (Geoff Hicks on drums, Barney Bentall on acoustic guitar and vocals, Eric Reed on electric guitar, Shari Ulrich on fiddle and vocals, Rob Becker on bass, Angela Harris on background vocals, and yours truly on guitar), to play the Porch Stage Saturday Oct 1st in sunny Golden Gate Park. The High Bar Gang (us without Geoff) made a surprise appearance at the end of Wendy's set, with the help of John Reischman showing us how it's done on his '24 Loar signed F-5 on "Over In the Gloryland". Let me tell you that made my day. On the Sunday, Wendy and the girls got to sing the last song of the festival with Emmylou Harris and others (thanks Maple for asking).
It was great to see so many familiar Vancouver faces enjoying themselves at the best festival anywhere. The band played great and we had a wonderful time through the entire weekend. Special thanks to our dear friends from Los Angeles Karen and John, who made the trek up and took some pictures (have a look).
More news as it happens!
